Helpful Approaches for Allergy Sufferers

Helpful Approaches for Allergy Sufferers

Helpful approaches for allergy sufferers

Helpful approaches for seasonal allergy sufferers are available locally.  Here in Sonoma County, a mostly agricultural region, there are many allergy sufferers. If you are one of these, read on. We know allergies are caused by common things in our environment such as floral and grass pollens, pet dander, and even foods. These create many uncomfortable symptoms such as itchy, watery eyes, wheezing, sneezing, and irritated nasal membranes.

Naturopathic medicine offers several solutions. Using a variety of natural herbs can help reduce your symptoms. Boosting your immune system can help. It is equally important to treat allergies by getting at the root cause. Listen to Dr. Goldberg talk about things that might be right for you.

Boosting your Antibodies

We use a program in our clinic called Allergy Easy. It is a natural desensitization protocol to help reduce your allergic reactions. You slowly take little drops of liquid by mouth that have the allergen (the foreign substance that a person could be allergic to). Over the course of 3 – 6 months you take a stronger and stronger doses boosting your body’s own antibodies.

Help Your Immune System

This program helps your immune system to deal with the antibodies, gradually building up your immunity against the antigens, the foreign substances your body is allergic to. This is called a “sublingual immunotherapy” approach.

Journal Article

A 2016 article in JAMA (Journal of the American Medical Association) talks about sublingual immunotherapy as an improvement over traditional allergy shots. According to this article, sublingual immunotherapy has been shown to be more effective than the allergy shots and there is no pain involved. In addition, we have patients who have had great results with the Allergy Easy program.
